Film Folks: Tommy

  • Fat Hill Brewing 17 N. Federal Ave. Mason City, IA 50401 (map)

We are continuing with our little unit for the 1970s with our pick for May, which is 1975’s Tommy. Tommy is a 1975 British psychedelic musical fantasy drama film written and directed by Ken Russell. It was based on the Who's 1969 album of the same name, a rock opera about a "psychosomatically deaf, mute, and blind" boy who becomes a pinball champion and religious leader

Film Folks is a casual group for any movie lover! We meet the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7 PM. Watch the movie ahead of time and then we’ll all gather at the brewery to share our opinions and answer some discussion questions together. (Like a book club, but with movies instead of books!) There is no attendance requirements, cost to participate, and no purchase necessary. Just come hang out with some fellow movie fans. Check in with the bar when you arrive and they will point you in the direction of the group. Because we want to best facilitate easy discussion and connection, there will likely be several different small tables for film group and not one big one. Our advice? Pick the table where you know the least people and make some new film friends!
